Towards is a collection of subjective cartographic representations of Brussels connected to the creation of a collaborative tool for subjective cartography.
Several artists have participated in the first phase of this project by, all in their own way, mapping urban interventions and memories of Brussels. This resulted in an exhibition, a publication and a considerable amount of reflections and questions.
In parallel the project puts forward a workshop, urban interventions, a collection of Brussels’ maps and an ’atlas of brussels’.
The project addresses following questions: How to represent subjective territorial data? How do maps influence our perception of a terrain? How to interconnect these data? Which form and function should a collective cartography software aim for? The blog feeds these questions knowing that answering them is important for the realisation of a collaborative cartography software.
