Stitch and Split Datamap: Mapping sci-fi data
A cartography of some data gathered for a sci-fi project, a potential model for interstitial "order".
Work in progress.
Stitch And Split is a project of meetings, publications, screenings, video-libraries, interested in selves and territories in science fiction. This project took place till now in different cultural institutions: Fundacio Antoni Tapies - Barcelona, Universidad Internacional de Andalucia - Sevilla, Hallen van Schaerbeek- Brussels, Museum of Contemporary Art- Antwerp/
What interests Constant in this research is how the beings, objects, concepts and spaces that appear in science fiction create «displacement», deconstruct the usual categories from which we perceive the world, move the boundaries again, cut up the territories again.
The preparation and implementation of this project and the encounters arising from it have enabled us to discover a large number of resources. In order to transmit them and give the interested public an opportunity to consult them, annotate them, complete them, transform them, we thought it essential to propose a cartography of those data.
This was the first attempts to map this data, this work is at an experimental stage and developped in free software.
