Project: Towards

OpenStreetMap

Benjamin Henrion who joined the July cartography workshop talked about the openstreetmap project (1). We organize a first workshop on open cartography of the center of Brussels.

We wander through the streets of the city center with our bike and GPS and we will process the data acquired in the morning and upload them on the openstreeetmap’s website. http://www.openstreetmap.org/

(1) about openstreetmap:

OpenStreetMap is a project aimed squarely at creating and providing free geographic data such as street maps to anyone who wants them. The project was started because most maps you think of as free actually have legal or technical restrictions on their use, holding back people from using them in creative, productive or unexpected ways.
