Library encounters of the third kind: Brussels Edition

This event is dedicated to different projects that reflect on the practices of digital catalogs, classification systems and other forms of systematic organization of knowledge. It will make a moment, in the form of an informal conversation, to consider together the less visible but fundamental aspects of libraries and librarian practice.
Special attention will be given to the SISO classification system that is currently the most used in dutch-speaking libraries.

With, among others:

Infrastructural Manoeuvres, a project from the librarians of the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, that for two years have been developing a critical approach to their own library system; the latest phase of the project will be introduced by Anita Burato, Martino Morandi and Sarah Magnan.

Lizzy van Italie, whose work reflects on the phisicalities of libraries, bookshelves, classification systems in terms of metaphors of orientation, navigation.
