Digital Brussels? People first!

For the past 2 years, thousands of people and hundreds of associations have been mobilizing against the Brussels Digital Decree. They are calling for human contact with administrations and more physical counters to be able to access essential rights and services.

On Monday 9 of December, Daniel Flinker, from the association Lire et Ecrire Bruxelles, talked about the origins of the campaign against ’Digital Brussels’, its key moments, what it had already achieved, and its future prospects. The presentation was followed by a discussion.

Every 2nd Monday of the month, the critical reflection encounters propose to address topics related to the digital (e.g. algorithms, surveillance capitalism, ecological impacts, etc.) and to explore alternative ways of doing things (discovery of free and ethical tools, ungluing of smartphones, protection of communications, etc.)

These evenings take place in two parts: a first part of informal and friendly meeting, where everyone is invited to bring their questions, ideas, projects; followed by a more structured part, which may take the form of a thematic presentation followed by a discussion, or a practical workshop.

These meetings are organised by one of our partners Tactic.
