A legal identity for trees
Right before the local elections, on 12th and 13th October Z33 and FoAM organise a 2 day workshop, led by Heath Bunting and An Mertens. During this workshop you learn how you can create a legal identity for trees. With your guardianship they will be able to gain a voice in society, first ficticiously, but who knows, maybe in the long run they will be able to vote legally.
Bunting demonstrates that identity can be constructed in time by placing an ’individual’ inside the web of mobile phones, loyalty cards, bank accounts, administrative correspondency and other person related data. Identity Bureau questions the notion of personality by showing how an identity is constructed largely by material issues. Constant member An Mertens brings up the question what new perspectives a legal identity for trees can add to our personal and social landscape. An guides the participants in the discovery of the identity of the tree they chose to guard.
You can enroll till 6th October by sending a mail to info@z33.be.
Two days all-in costs 30 euro, max. 20 participants.
The workshop will take place in FoAM, Koolmijnenkaai 30, 1080 Brussels.
We will meet up for a short walk in Forest de Soignes in the morning, be there at 9h at foAM or at 10h at the parking space of Enfants Noyés/Verdronken Kinderen, next to the Brussels Golf Club (former Hippodroom), at the corner of Drève du Comte/Gravendreef and Drève de Tumuli/Tumulidreef.
