AFTERNOON TOPOGRAPHY SESSIONS IV – NEW (MEDIA) TOPOGRAPHY: Virtual space and topographical representation
New media conceptualize space in terms of interhuman and concrete
relationships. Their cartographic representation show how these different
dimensions are linked to each other and tries to demonstrate their
reciprocal connectedness. This Friday afternoon will present the work of
media artists and researchers who explore in depth the relationship
between humans and their environment, by assuming space virtually or by
’writing’, ’creating’ new spaces inside virtual space.

NAMIDDAGEN VAN DE TOPOGRAFIE IV - NIEUWE (MEDIA) TOPOGRAFIE: De virtuele ruimte en de cartografische representatie
Nieuwe media denken ruimte in termen van intermenselijke en concrete
relaties. Hun cartografische representatie laat zien hoe deze
verschillende dimensies op elkaar inhaken en probeert zo hun onderlinge
samenhang zichtbaar te maken. Deze lezingennamiddag gaf het woord aan
mediakunstenaars en onderzoekers die in hun eigen werk de relatie mens en omgeving uitdiepen door zich ruimtes virtueel toe te eigenen of binnen de virtuele ruimte van het netwerk nieuwe ruimtes te ’(be)schrijven’.

Les nouveaux médias pensent l’espace en termes de relations interhumaines et concrètes. Cet après-midi consacré aux conférences présente des artistes et chercheurs des médias qui travaillent sur l’espace virtuel. Ainsi que sur la représentation cartographique de ses différentes
dimensions et le réseau de leurs relations réciproques.
