From 2012 to 2014 Jonathan & Yves Poliart animated a project called Open
Sound Lab, a series of sound workshops devoted to the teenagers with no software or music practice. The workshops allowed the participants to try their hand at beatmaking (creating instrumental rap) with open source tools such as LMMS, Audacity & Hydrogen.

Open Sound Lab: Back to School

De workshop "Open Sound Lab" gaat opnieuw van start! Dit jaar vinden alle workshops plaats in het Cultureel Centrum Jacques Franck in Sint-Gillis.

De focus van de workshop blijft ongewijzigd: jonge muziekliefhebbers leren kwalitatieve instrumentals maken met open source geluidssoftwares. Dit jaar krijgt de workshop een extra dimensie, dankzij de unieke samenwerking tussen CC Jacques Franck, Open Sound Lab en het jeugdhuis "Cité des Jeunes". De soundtracks die de jongeren maken zullen de films begeleiden van filmmakers van de Cité des Jeunes.
De afgewerkte films worden in mei 2015 vertoond in de grote zaal van het CC Jacques Franck.

> Praktische info:

Workshop voor tieners en jong volwassenen, elke woensdag en vrijdag van 17u tot 19u in het Centre Culturel Jacques Franck.
Deelname is gratis, de workshop voorziet ook het nodige materiaal (computers, sound cards ....), voertaal is Frans.

Open Sound Lab: Back to School

The workshop "Open Sound Lab" has started again! This year, the activities will take place at the Cultural Centre Jacques Franck in Saint-Gilles.

The workshops still focus on the training of young music lovers using sound generating softwares. This year there will be an additional focus, thanks to a unique collaboration between Open Sound Lab, the Cultural Centre Jacques Franck and the Youth House "Cité des Jeunes". They will be creating soundtracks that will illustrate the various films made by filmmakers of the Cité des Jeunes.
The films will be projected in May 2015 in the Cultural Centre Jacques Franck.

> Practical information:

Workshop for teenagers and young adults; at the Centre Culturel Jacques Franck, each Wednesday and Friday from 17:00 to 19:00.
Participation is free; the workshop provides the necessary equipment (computers, sound cards ....), language of the workshop is French.

At the program.

The poietic generator, a fully interactive online game animated by its creator, Olivier Aubert.

Open Sound Lab, an open workshop that will allow you to try your hand at beatmaking (creating instrumental rap) hosted by Jonathan Poliart (L.E.G., Martiensgohome...).

Beatbox, a workshop with B.Flow who will also be our Ringmaster throughout the afternoon.

More over, you can attend the announcement of the competition results of the crearnet logo and the delivery of the first Prize. Next to that, an exhibition of creations of the project crearnet, including laser cutting made at the FabLab-iMAL.

Finally, you can enjoy a snack prepared by Philippe Witjes with his culinary caravan at low prices.

crearnet (www.crearnet.be) is a project funded by the Telenet Foundation and led by the organisation Lutte contre l'exclusion sociale in Molenbeek.

Since march 2012 Jonathan & Yves Poliart started a workshop called « open
sound lab » , a sound workshop devoted to the teenagers of the « Variable »
neighborhood in Schaerbeek with no software or music practice.
The idea is to give some tools to build instrumentals using only three open
software : LMMS, Audacity & Hydrogen.

Depuis mars 2012, Jonathan & Yves Poliart ont démarré un atelier appelé « open
sound lab » dédié aux adolescents des environs de Variable à Schaerbeek qui n'ont pas d'expérience avec les logiciels ou avec la musique.

L'idée est de donner des outils pour créer des instrumentaux avec seulement trois logiciels ouverts: LMMS, Audacity & Hydrogen.
