Yoogle! op de Big Brother Awards 2012

Constant meldt met vreugde dat het project «Yoogle!» de Winston Award heeft gewonnen op de Big Brother Awards 2012, georganiseerd door La ligue des Droits de l'Homme en De Liga voor Mensenrechten.

Deze prijs wordt uitgereikt aan de persoon of het project dat ijvert voor de verdediging van het recht op privacy-bescherming van de burger.

Het project werd vertegenwoordigd door Michel Cleempoel tijdens de ceremonie in de Hallen van Schaarbeek in Brussel op 26 januari 2012.

Yoogle! at the Big Brother Awards 2012!

Constant is pleased to announce that the project «Yoogle!» has won the Winston Award at the occasion of the Big Brother Awards 2012 organised by La Ligue des droits de l'Homme and De Liga voor Mensenrechten.

This award is given to a person or project defending the privacy rights of the citizens.

The project has been represented by Michel Clempoel during the awards ceremony held at the Halles de Schaerbeek in Brussels on 26 January 2012.

Met deze lezing reikten Nicolas Malevé en Michel Cleempoel elementen aan om na te denken over sociale netwerkplatformen en de evolutie van wettelijke nationale en internationale akkoorden. In hun werk onderzoeken ze de homogeniseringsprocessen van het web en de processen van legislatieve harmonisering binnen de EU en zien hoe die elkaar beïnvloeden. Ze bespreken ook de politieke gevolgen van deze dynamiek.

Deze lezing was deel van Plutonian Striptease, een lezingenreeks over sociale media, online privacy, de data-markt en de economie van open systemen. "Sniff, Scrape, Crawl"¦" is an ongoing interdisciplinary research project. Through a series of workshops, debates, lectures and presentations, the thematic project was launched with this event in the beginning of 2011 at the Piet Zwart Institute, Master Media Design and Communication in the department of Networked Media. It brought together artists, programmers and theorists, looking at how surveillance and data-mining technologies shape and influence our lives and the consequences they have on our civil liberties, examining the porous borders of privacy in the digital age.
